Second Half Run Not Enough As Eagles Drop First CACC Game Of Season To Felician, 68-66

Four Eagles Score In Double-Digits, Latham Leads With 20 Points

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University women's basketball team lost its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game of the season as it fell to Felician 68-66 at home on Wednesday night. The loss snaps the Eagles nine-game conference win streak as they sit at 6-5 overall and 5-1 in league play.
 
Post had four players in double-digits on the night, led by junior Aubrey Latham (Mystic, Conn.) with 20 points on 8-for-15 shooting. Graduate student Monique Chance (Brooklyn, N.Y.) filled the stat sheet with 12 points, 13 boards, five assists, and five steals. Junior Fernanda Mansilla (Ancud, Chile) added 12 points and nine assists.
 
Down 58-48 with 9:38 remaining in the game, the Eagles staged a 16-5 run capped off by a layup from Latham to take a 64-63 advantage, their first since the 13:13 mark of the first. Felician gained the lead back on its next possession and led 68-66 with 11 seconds left.
 
Out of a timeout, Mansilla drove to the baseline and put up a runner that was blocked by Sierra McDuffy. She grabbed her own rebound but could not get another shot off before time expired.
 
The Eagles stormed out to a 10-2 lead early in first. Junior Raven Wright-James (Middletown, Conn.) and Latham hit shots from distance to build the advantage and force a timeout by the Golden Falcons at the 16:32 mark. Eliana Scanlon made a layup as part of a 13-2 run that gave Felician its first lead of the contest with 12:39 left.
 
Trina Plummer scored 12 of her game-high 26 points during a 19-5 run over a span of 5:54 in the first. The stretch gave the Golden Falcons its largest lead of the night 36-22 with 4:13 remaining in the first. Junior Jessica Webber (Naugatuck, Conn.), Wright-James, and Latham hit shots as the Eagles cut the lead to seven before heading into the break down 38-29.
 
Post forced 22 turnovers on the night, which led to 28 points. The Eagles were outrebounded 40-37, but held a 15-11 advantage on the offensive glass.
 
The Eagles continue their four-game homestand on Sunday, Dec. 30 against NYIT. Tip-off is scheduled for noon.
