Post’s Joe Baccielo Named NSCAA Second Team Scholar All-American

Junior Forward Honored With Second Academic Award Of Fall Semester

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Post University junior Joe Baccielo (Stratford, Conn.) of the men's soccer team was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Second Team Scholar All-American on Friday afternoon. A Capital One Second Team Academic All-American as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Baccielo picked up his second academic award of the fall.
 
The reigning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Year and the Daktronics NCAA Division II East Region Co-Player of the Year, Baccielo ranked 11th in the country in total points (38) and total goals (15). He was 21st in points per game (1.73) and 28th in total assists with eight on the year. Baccielo was named an NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Third Team All-American.
 
Baccielo, a marketing major, netted a team-best 15 goals and 38 points. He tallied eight assists, which tied for the lead on the Eagles. Baccielo sat second in the CACC in goals and points and tied for second in the league in assists. A First Team NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II All-East Region selection, Baccielo netted two hat tricks on the season in wins over AIC (Sept. 1) and Wilmington (Sept. 22). On Sept. 24, he was named the CACC Player of the Week.
 
The men's soccer team finished the 2012 season with its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Individually it totaled five All-CACC selections, five NCAA Division II All-East Region selections, three NCAA Division II All-American choices, two ECAC All-Stars, the Daktronics NCAA Division II East Region Co-Player of the Year, an Academic All-American, a NSCAA Second Team Scholar All-American, and the CACC Coach, Player and Rookie of the Year. Additionally, the program was lauded by the NSCAA for team academics and a grade-point average greater than 3.0.
