PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Despite winning a close first set, the Post University volleyball team fell at Philadelphia 3-1 on Saturday afternoon. Set scores were 25-21, 10-25, 13-25, and 17-25. The Eagles drop to 8-15 overall and 7-8 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.

Emily Wilman (Perth Amboy, N.J.) recorded a double-double with 13 kills to go along with 11 digs. Senior
Kelly Hayes (South Orange, N.J.) also notched a double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs. Graduate student
Vanessa Ramos (Milford, Conn.) led all players with 21 digs on the afternoon.
The Eagles took a 13-9 lead after two consecutive service aces by sophomore
Julia Slyaktina (Moscow, Russia) to force a timeout by Philadelphia in the first set. The Rams responded with a 6-1 run out of the break to take their first lead at 15-14 and grew it to 22-19 late. Post put the set away from there with a 6-1 stretch. Hayes had four kills in the stanza.
Philadelphia stormed out to an 8-1 lead in the second and never looked back. The Rams led by as many as 16 in the stanza. Wilman led Post with four kills in the set.
The Rams carried the momentum into the third set and pulled ahead 8-3. Graduate student
Kelli Reynolds (Stamford, Conn.) scored a kill to pull the Eagles within four at 11-7. Philadelphia wouldn't let Post any closer as it responded with an 8-4 run to go ahead 19-11. Ramos recorded five digs in the set.
After falling behind 7-3 in the final set, Post stormed back to tie the score 10-10 and force a timeout. Wilman and freshman
Janiellee Alvarez (Norwich, Conn.) each had an ace during the stretch. The Rams slowly built up a lead from there and closed out the match on a 6-2 run.
The Eagles will be back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at Concordia. First service is scheduled for 6 p.m.
