PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Post University women's basketball squad was defeated by Central Atlantic Athletic Conference (CACC) South Division leader Holy Family on Saturday, 87-53. Junior
Aubrey Latham (Mystic, Conn.) led the Eagles with 13 points in the loss.
Latham scored 11 of her points in the second half. Senior
Taylor Doyle (Mystic, Conn.) played well off the bench, as she shot 2-for-6 from behind the arc for six points. She also grabbed four boards.
Holy Family opened the game on a 9-0 run over the first two minutes. The Tigers extended their lead to 23-4 at the 13:50 mark of the first, as they hit three shots from distance over the stretch.
With Holy Family ahead 43-12 with 5:02 remaining in the half, the Eagles used a 9-0 run of their own to make the score 43-21. Doyle and sophomore
Colleen Hanscom (Melrose, Mass.) both hit from distance during the run. Post trailed 49-24 at the half.
The second half was much of the same. Senior
Kelli Reynolds (Milford, Conn.) hit a jumper will 11:11 remaining off a dish by
Jacquelynne Pugh (Grahamsville, N.Y.) to cut the deficit to 62-39, the closest the Eagles would get.
Post made seven three pointers on the day. The second half was much better for the Eagles, as they created nine turnovers which led to 12 points.
The Eagles will close out their road stretch on Tuesday, Jan. 24 at Concordia (N.Y.). Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m.
