WATERBURY, Conn (November 7, 2011) Freshman women's soccer player
Elin Nyman has been named the 2011 CACC Rookie of the Year. Nyman is second in the nation in goals per game and fourth in points per game.
“Elin's strengths is her composure in front of the net played and she played very well with her back to the goal making her well deserving of Rookie of the Year,” said
Matt Micros, Eagles Head Coach. “She has ability to make everyone around her better with her exceptional work ethic and really made a big difference for us.”
Nyman, who was also named to the first team all-conference for her efforts this fall, has had a tremendous season for the Eagles scoring 14 goals, three that were game winners, and added two assists.
Nyman becomes the first Eagle to represent Post on the First All-CACC team in women's soccer since midfielder Maria Krug did so in 2006. That same year Kelli Veras was Rookie of the Year. Jackie Sutton and
Rachel Shivers made the second all conference team in 2008.
