Post University's Alan Stekloff Promoted to Head Women's Basketball Coach
WATERBURY, Conn (August 5, 2010) Former Post University Assistant Women's Basketball Coach Alan Stekloff has been promoted to Head Coach beginning with the 2010-2011 season.
“This is an exciting opportunity for me to carry forward the goals coach Tracey Garofalo and I set two years ago when I first started as assistant coach,” said Stekloff. “I look to implement my own coaching philosophy on the program, while continuing to look for talented student-athletes who can play a competitive Division II schedule. This year's recruiting class is very talented and I am confident we will be successful.”
Stekloff has been an assistant coach with the Eagles for two seasons while serving as the Athletic Director at Portland High School and Portland Middle School in Connecticut. Prior to coaching at Post University, Stekloff served as an assistant coach at UConn Avery Point for three seasons.
“Alan has been with our program for two years now so he knows our system and already has a working relationship with our current student-athletes,” said Anthony Fallacaro, Post University Athletic Director. “He has proven himself as a talented and spirited coach who has the skills to be successful at this level of competition.”
Stekloff will coach his first game during the Eagles season opener on November 12th at the Lincoln University Tournament in Pennsylvania.
Former head coach Tracey Garofalo will continue coaching the Post University Softball team in the 2011 season in addition to assuming other responsibilities within Post University's Athletic Department.
