Post University Dressage Rider Wins High Point Ribbon
WATERBURY, Conn. (March 29, 2010) – Again this semester, Post University’s Dressage Team co-hosted the second IDA Show of the Spring 2010 Season at the University of Connecticut on Saturday, March 20, 2010 held at Storrs. CT. Sophomore Carlie Serif of Waterbury, CT earned High Point Rider for the day with her 66.000% in Upper Training Level. This was a great result and shows the hard work done by the Coach, Jennifer Ford, and all the riders – many of who are riding dressage tests for the first time. Congratulations to Carlie who pulled out ‘all the stops’ on the day to get the best marks out of all teams.
Intercollegiate Dressage riders from Post University placed in all four divisions on March 20, with strong efforts from all riders. In addition to Serif's commendable score, First Level freshmen Alicia Mala from Killingworth, CT and Alyssa Segala of Prospect, CT placed 5th with 58.67% and 8th with 48.670%, respectively. In Upper Training, Freshman Heather Whiles of Durham, CT placed 9th with 54.000%. In Lower Training, Junior Christine Bittner of Monroe, CT placed 7th with 57.830%. Junior Leah Krasnor of Madison, CT scored 60.500%, placing 7th in Introductory. The two teams of riders competing for the University placed 4th and 8th overall, a respectable showing for this small team.
Dressage Coach Jennifer Ford of Orange, CT complimented the IDA team on their performance, "The Post University riders are really progressing well. This is such a challenging competition format, and with the loss of three Seniors who graduated in December, the underclassmen have really stepped up to the challenge. We are all very proud of them for their hard work and positive attitudes."
The dressage team will represent Post University in their next show at the University of Massachusetts on April 10 and 11.
