Stephanie Marran Commits to Post University's Women's Soccer Team
WATERBURY, Conn (March 19, 2010)
Stephanie Marran has committed to play Women's Soccer at Post University's beginning in the fall of 2010. Marran is a versatile player who can play both defense and offense.
"I chose Post University because of its reputation as a good 'small' New England school and I will not be known a just a number on a scantron,” said Marran. “I chose to play soccer at Post University because Coach Benitez was the coach I felt the most comfortable talking to. He was always truthful and made me feel that I would be a positive addition to his developing team. I am so excited to start school in the fall, meet my team mates and do all I can to contribute to the soccer team in a positive way."
Marran has played at the varsity level at Patchogue-Medford High School for four years. Most recently, she competed on the Farmingdale Freedom Premiere team netting 13 goals with 5 assists. In four seasons on the Dix Hill Storm premiere team, Marran scored 25 goals with 12 assists in only two seasons.
“We are very excited that Stephanie has chosen Post University and our women's soccer program as the school where she wants to be at and play for the next four years,” said John Benitez, Eagles Head Coach. “Stephanie is a very talented and versatile player who can play any position on the field. She also brings with her a lot of experience as she has played top level premier soccer for a long time. We are expecting Stephanie to step right in and be a big contributor to our program.”
Off the field, Marran is one of the top students in her class earning several awards as a fall 2009 Scholar Athlete. She is also actively involved in community service projects in her hometown and has been listed in the “Who's who of American High School Students,” honoring students who excel in academics, extracurricular activities, and community service.
