Mannetti Named Post University’s Assistant Sprint Football Coach
WATERBURY, Conn. (March 15, 2010) Mike Mannetti has been named the assistant coach of Post University’s Sprint Football program. During Mannetti’s tenure as the offensive line coach at Holy Cross High School, the team reached the CIAC playoffs four times including the 2006 state championship.
“I am very excited to have Mike on my coaching staff because he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Post University,” said Pete Ewald, Post University Sprint Football Coach. “He has an in-depth understanding of the high school football landscape and is committed to excellence, which will be invaluable assets for this program in the recruiting process.”
Since 2005, Mannetti has served as the Director of Operations at Holy Cross High School. Mannetti was recruited to play football in college, but decided to pursue a coaching career instead and has coached seven different players to more than 1,000 rushing yards in a single season.
"Having an opportunity to coach football at the college level is something I have been actively pursuing, and to get that opportunity at Post University under Pete Ewald is exciting for both me and my family,” said Mannetti. “I firmly believe that we can continue to attract quality student-athletes to represent this University well both academically and athletically. Our Student-athletes will have the opportunity to play collegiate football at a high level against very prestigious programs. I know they, as well as I, will be ready for the challenge of competing at such a high level."
Post University’s Sprint Football team will take to the field September 24, 2010 in Philadelphia against the University of Pennsylvania on historic Franklin Field. The team’s first home game will be on October 30, 2010 against Mansfield University.
