Nicholas Gutbrod and Ashley Gorelik Named Post University’s Athletes of the Week
Waterbury, Conn (September 29. 2009) – Nicholas Gutbrod of the Men’s Soccer Team and Ashley Gorelik of the Women’s Tennis team, have been named this week’s Post University Players of the Week. Ironically, both athletes are freshmen who enjoyed career firsts as a collegiate athlete.
Gutbrod a freshman goalkeeper from Fredonia, Wisc., shutout the Philadelphia University Rams in his first career collegiate start. The Eagles went on to win the
game 2-0, which was Post University’s first conference win of the season.
Gorelik is a freshman from Brookfield, Conn playing number one singles and doubles on Post University's Women’s Tennis team. Last week, Gorelik defeated Amanda Maurer from Albertus Magnus in two sets (6-0, 6-0) earning her first win. It was also the team’s first win under head coach Rob Howard.
Post University Athletics will host several contests this week. Men’s Soccer plays at home against Bloomfield on Wednesday afternoon. Women’s Soccer and Volleyball play at home on Thursday.
