WATERBURY, Conn.  – “Sally Swift at the Center”, a retrospective on the life of Centered Riding founder Sally Swift, will be offered by the Post University Equine Department on Friday, October 23 at 7:00 pm.  Presenter Jamison Wallace is a Centered Riding Instructor & Clinician Level III, a dressage rider, and Vice President of Centered Riding, Inc. “Sally Swift at the Center” presents a life history of Sally Swift, including photos of Sally teaching, and readings from “Sally Speaks”, a series on the Four Basics and Grounding and parts of the Centered Riding video. Information about Centered Riding, Inc., the International Symposium, and the Centered Riding books will be included.

Sarah Rodman Swift made riding Centered and forever changed the way riding is taught around the world before passing away at the age of 95 in April 2009.  She was known to her worldwide following as “Sally Swift” and for her innovative horse-riding methodology which came to be known as Centered Riding. She was the author of two books, Centered Riding and Centered Riding II – Further Explorations which have had combined sales of more than 860,000 copies worldwide in 15 different languages.  Sally was the Founder of Centered Riding, Inc., which is the non-profit organization that oversees the worldwide membership of instructors, riders and supporting members.

For more than 25 years, Jami Wallace has trained horses and riders for hunt seat, dressage and western. Several of her students have qualified to show at the Region 8 Dressage Championships. She has had a wide range of teaching experiences including Claremont Riding Academy in New York City, where she gave lessons to Robert DeNiro and Meryl Streep; a quarter horse breeding and training barn in Connecticut; a new facility in New Preston, where she developed the lesson program and had to hire additional instructors to fill the demand; Thunder Ridge in Litchfield as the lessor, manager and head trainer, and then the study of Centered Riding and a career as a freelance instructor and clinician.

The program will take place in the Board Room of Traurig Library on the Post University campus, 800 Country Club Road in Waterbury. Admission is $10 at the door, and is free to Post students. Parking is available in the Visitors lot or the North lot on Country Club Road.

The Quiz the Experts series is organized by the Post University Equine Resource Committee, to provide topical and up to date information on subjects related to the ownership, care, and training of horses.  Proceeds from the Quiz the Experts lecture series benefit student scholarships for the Equine Business Management Program at the University.  For further information, call 203-596-4631 or 4645, or email CBaker@post.edu or ABloxsom@post.edu
