Post Assistant Coach Ricker Hired by the New Bedford Bay Sox
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. - Post's Baseball Assistant Coach
Ray Ricker has been hired as an assistant coach for the New Bedford Bay Sox. He will be working with former professional baseball player Brian Rose. Ricker will be primarily working with catchers for General Manager Kirk Fredriksson.
“Ray is one of those guys that you have to have. He's an extremely hard worker and that's contagious to everyone else. Ray always wants to go the extra mile. He's accomplished some pretty impressive things, and we're really happy to have him with us this summer,” echoed Fredriksson.
It is Ricker's second stint coaching in a summer league. In the summer of 2008 Ricker served was head coach for the Protocall Starz in the A.B.C.C.L. in New Jersey. Under his direction the Starz won the regular season conference championship and set the league record for wins in a season.
“I am looking forward to this summer,” said Ricker. “I have always wanted to be a professional baseball coach. This opportunity will allow me to gain experience that I can bring back to Post in the fall of 2009.”
During his time at Post Ricker coached the Eagles to their best hitting effort in school history in the CACC using all wood bats.
“It is an outstanding opportunity for Ray and I think he deserves it,” said Post Eagles Coach
AJ McNamara. “He has been an asset to the program here at Post and the experience he will gain this summer will not only benefit him, but also Post Baseball.”
Ricker will be able to return to his duties as an assistant coach at Post this fall.
