Softball Advances in CACC Playoffs

LAKEWOOD, NJ – Post Universities Softball team split games against Dominican and Holy Family to advance in the double elimination CACC Softball Tournament.

Box Score Dominican
Box Score Holy Family

In the first game of the day Post took on top seeded Dominican. Although coach Tracey Garofalo was concerned about the depth of the Charger’s lineup, Post held Dominican to only 2 runs.

The game was scoreless through 3 innings before Dominican scored in the 4th when Danielle Garrison hit a solo home run over the left field fence. It was the same situation in the 6th when Dominican scored the final run of the game off a Cara Piasecki home run.

Post dropped game one 2-0.

In the second game of the day Post battled the Holy Family Tigers. The Tigers scored first in the opening inning. In the 3rd inning for Post, Nicole Gizzi singled to center field, advanced to second on a sacrifice, and moved to third on a wild pitch. That setup Samantha Canning to tie the game at one scoring Gizzi with an RBI single.

Post took the lead in the 5th inning. Again it was an RBI from Canning scoring Gizzi to give the Eagles the edge. Holy Family came back to tie in the bottom of the inning.

Post scored the game winning run in the top of the 6th. Eagle pitcher Stephanie Carrillo singled to lead-off the inning. Cassidie Ern came up later in the order and hit an RBI single to left field scoring Carrillo.
Post will play again tomorrow against Bloomfield in their third game of the tournament.
