Amy Mantha Named to the 2nd All-CACC Softball Team

Amy Mantha
NEW HAVEN, CT – Post freshman catcher Amy Mantha has been named to the second All-CACC softball team for the 2009 season. Mantha is the only Eagle to be recognized for her personal achievements this season and one of five freshmen to make the second team.

Mantha from Agawam, Massachusetts participated in all 42 games for the Eagles this spring. She has a (.295) batting average through the regular season with 36 hits and 22 RBIs. In addition Mantha has 7 doubles and 3 homeruns.

“Her hard work paid off this season,” said Eagles coach Tracey Garofalo. “I never saw her as a freshman. Her knowledge of the game made her seem more experience than she is and makes her a huge asset to the program.”

It is the first time an Eagle has been recognized throughout the conference since 2006 when pitcher Christa Holtom accomplished the same feat.
