Freshman
Kelly Strout continued her winning streak with a repeat Reserve High Point Rider at the Connecticut College/Rhode Island College show on February 21st. Strout again won both her Novice Fences and Intermediate Flat classes, qualifying her to ride off for the High Point Rider award, and again finished in second place overall. The blue ribbons this weekend have qualified her to ride in the Open Flat class at the next show, no small feat for a freshman equestrian. Strout comes to Post from Otisfield, Maine, and brings her riding talent, a positive attitude and a strong work ethic to the team. "Her fellow team members are thrilled for her success. Kelly is popular amongst the other members of the team because she's not only a lovely rider but such a positive person," said Equine Director Carole Baker. "She really does deserve the recognition."
Strout was not the only winner for Post. Freshman
Shannon Carichner also won her flat class, and
Heather Zebrowski, Pam Lyon,
Brooke Fowler,
Meaghan Hennessy,
Lana Dufour,
Ashley Barrett, and
Oksana Gela all came up second or third in at least one class. These placings helped the teamfinished with thirty points for the day.
