Post University Swimming Adds Division I Talent

WATERBURY, Conn. (November 23, 2009) Gabrijela Zaper from Croatia has committed to attend Post University as a swimmer for the 2010-2011 season. Zaper currently holds the Croatian Junior record for the 50-meter breaststroke (32.50). The record was previously held by Mirna Jukic, who earned a bronze medal in the 2008 Olympics in the 100-meter breaststroke.

“It has been a dream of mine for quite some time to be able to study and train in the United States,” said Zaper. “I am very grateful for the opportunity Post University has given me and will work hard in my classes and the pool.”

Zaper has been swimming for 10 years and has consistently improved along the way. In the recent past her times have improved from being just fast enough to score at the NCAAs to being fast enough to compete for a national championship.

“Gabrijela is showing a lot of faith in us and how our team will grow over the next couple of seasons,” said RJ Wojtylak, Eagles Head Coach. “Our main goal is still to recruit in the Connecticut and New England areas to help us get competitive at the DII level but we could not pass up on the opportunity to gain national prominence by getting Gabrijela to join Post University.”
