Post University Equestrians Win Blue Ribbons at Connecticut College

WATERBURY, Conn. (November 14, 2009) – Post University sophomore Julia Lazinger and alumna Oksana Gela were the blue ribbon winners in the Equestrian Team's outing at Connecticut College on October 31.  Lazinger won her Advanced Walk Trot Canter class, and Gela won both Alumni Flat and Alumni Fences.  Gela is a 2009 graduate of Post University, and has competed with the IHSA Equestrian Team for several years.  The team then competed at UCONN on November 14, and will travel to Wesleyan University on November 21 for the last show of this semester. 

At Connecticut College, other Post University riders won ribbons in many classes -  Open Flat and Open Fences by Ashley Barrett of Ansonia, CT and Megan Dolinskas of Cazenovia, NY; Intermediate Flat and Intermediate Fences by Kelsey Stinneford of Wayne, ME, Meaghan Hennessy of Roslindale, MA, and Ashley Barrett; Novice Flat and Novice Fences by Lauren Donohue of Sterling, MA, Stephanie Thibault of Colebrook, CT, and Niki Cogliano of Stamford, CT; Advanced Walk Trot Canter by Pam Lyon of Plymouth, CT, Amanda Nygren of New Hartford, CT; and Beginner Walk Trot Canter by Samantha Hough of Pepperrell, MA.

At UCONN, the Post University team earned placings in Open Flat and Open Fences by Ashley Barrett (who has now qualified for Regionals) and Megan Dolinskas; Intermediate Flat and Intermediate Fences by Desmond O'Leary of Westwood, MA, Kelsey Stinneford, Meaghan Hennessy, and Ashley Barrett; Novice Flat and Novice Fences by Niki Cogliano, Lauren Donohue, and Meaghan Hennessy; Advanced Walk Trot Canter by Pam Lyon, Julia Lazinger, Amanda Nygren, and Samantha Hough.
