Collegiate Sprint Football League Fact Sheet
What:
The Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) has the same rules as NCAA college football, except that the weight limit for football players is 172.0 pounds. Sprint football players are fundamentally sound. Execution is the focus in sprint football as opposed to the weight room. Players are schooled on the basics and provide fans with an exciting brand of textbook football.
Who:
The Collegiate Sprint Football League consists of 7 teams:
• Army
• Navy
• Cornell University
• Princeton University
• University of Pennsylvania
• Mansfield University
• Post University
Schedule/Practice Regulations:
Teams compete in a 7 game schedule. The final 5 games of the season are played against league opponents to determine the league standings and league champion. Teams are allowed 15 days of official practice in the fall and no practice is allowed in the spring.
Weigh Certification:
The week leading up to a given contest will consist of a weigh-in for each participant. Each student-athlete must weigh 172.0 lbs. or less while simultaneously (within ½ hour) having body fat of 5% or greater and urine specific gravity less than or equal to 1.020.
Weight certification is scheduled for Monday or Wednesday before a Friday game and Tuesday and Thursday before a Saturday game every week the team has a game. The one exception to this rule is if a school plays a Sunday game which is followed the next week with a Friday game, they would only have to weigh-in on Wednesday before that Friday game. Body fat and hydration measures are not required for the weekly weight certification once the hydrated standard has been achieved at the 172 lb level. Failure to achieve this weight on either date will result in the student athlete being withheld from competition in that week’s contest.
Eligibility:
Eligibility for the CSFL is based upon the NCAA requirements for academic advancement.
Determining a Champion:
The CSFL Champion is determined through a point system. A win is worth 2 points and a tie is worth 1 point.
