Women’s Cross Country 2nd; Men 3rd in Season Opener

Middlebury, Conn (September 30, 2009) – Post University’s Men’s and Women’s Cross Country team placed 3rd and 2nd respectively in their opening meet against Mitchell, Bridgeport, and Albertus Magnus. The meet took place at Hop Brook State Park.
Bridgeport (24) took the win in the women’s meet as Eagle Diana Castellano (21:58) placed 2nd overall, only four seconds behind Bridgeport’s Jennavie Orrell (21:54) who was the race winner. Barbara Almeida (22:24) placed 6th, Michelle Chadwick (22:53) 9th, Keyla Cruz (24:56) 10th, and Megan Dolinskas (26:39) 14th.
On the Men’s side, Bridgeport (23) took the top spot, followed by Mitchell (48), Post University (64), and Albertus Magnus (146). Francisco Abreu (33:18) was the highest finisher for the Eagles placing 7th. Drake Smith (33:40) was 9th, Mark Spellman (36:40) 14th, Rich Marsh (36:43) 15th, and Nick Kinlock (38:22) rounded out the scoring for the Eagles with a 19th place effort.
The next cross country meet is scheduled for October 7th against Mitchell.
