Anthony Fallacaro begins his second year as Director of Athletics at Post University in 2007-08. "I am thrilled to join a prestigious academic institution such as Post University," Fallacaro said when he took the job last October. "Post University has a rich athletic tradition and I look forward to building on that great foundation. I am thankful to Dr. Sanders and the University Community for embracing me so warmly." Fallacaro came to Post with a wide variety of experiences, after serving one year as the director of athletics at Kingsborough C.C., and two years at St. John's University, as the assistant director of athletic programs, where he worked in conjunction with the athletic department and alumni relations. He also worked in the financial sector for four years. At Kingsborough, he instituted numerous changes to the athletic department, including the development of a corporate sponsorship guide, to attract corporate sponsorship, which yielded a deal with Nike as the school's official apparel supplier. He also helped establish a five-year deal with the energy drink Red Bull. He also developed the school's first academic tracking program, and strategic marketing program. He also oversaw the construction of the school's official athletic website, and helped develop a promotional DVD to help attract high school recruits. While at St. John's, Fallacaro was directly responsible for the cultivation and growth of the entire athletic alumni population and helped maintain and interact with alumni throughout the world. He was a key member of the athletic development team that worked toward a $25 million goal for the University's Capital Campaign and coordinated the first-ever comprehensive annual fund coaches mailing, including all 17 sports and support groups. Prior to his position in athletic development at St. John's, he worked at Investec Ernst & Company in New York City, managing and reconciling suspense accounts as well as tender offers in the corporate accounts division. Fallacaro served as an assistant baseball coach at St. John's from 1997-99, under Head Coach Ed Blankmeyer, helping to guide the Red Storm to the 1997 Big East Tournament Championship and to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances. He was the staff's liaison to Major League Baseball scouts, and coached 10 players who went onto pursue professional careers. He began his coaching career at Manhattan College, where he was the Jaspers hitting and catching coach, as well as recruiting coordinator, from 1995-97, under Head Coach Gary Puccio. After graduating from St. John's he taught physical education at St. John's Elementary in Riverdale, N.Y. for two years. Fallacaro was a four-year letterwinner for the baseball team at St. John's from 1990-94, and was part of two Big East Championship teams. He earned his bachelor's degree in athletic administration with a concentration in business administration, in 1994. He was also the recipient of the United States Marine Corps National Distinguished Scholar-Athlete Award in 1990. |
